Fall into the world Crawl out of the void Take off the mask, there’s no venetian masquerade I’ll cut you slack if you’d just give up this charade Love and aggression got no business being weapons One or the other it’s misleading your perceptions Hey! It’s time we rain on this parade Fly into the sun Pray that you’ll become Think for yourself if you want substance over style Quit lashin’ out if you expect to live a while Love and aggression got no business being weapons One or the other it’s misleading your perceptions Hey! It’s time we rain on this parade Hey, I’ve got a fever from the gluttony of love Can’t get enough Hey, I’ve got a headache from apocalyptic fuss Can’t get enough Hey, I got a meeting with the man who sits above I got a feeling that he won’t like what I’ve done Wait for it to come Leave before it’s done Take off the mask, there’s no venetian masquerade I’ll cut you slack if you’d just give up this charade Love and aggression got no business being weapons One or the other it’s misleading your perceptions Hey! It’s time we rain on this parade

it breaks my heart, passion denied you From the start, tomorrow never deals Wheels will turn, living the changes We got a lot of nice things to wear We got the fresh and the foul air We got to come and go one step ahead Shake the doubt from your mind The sooner you'll be fine I'm not leaving anymore The closed sign's on the door Standing here wide open My heart's got nothing more We got a lot of nice things to wear We got the fresh and the foul air We got to come and go one step ahead We got to pry our eyes from sleep We got a vacancy to meet We got the ebb and flow, no better end We savor each drop that we spill Burn our regrets with a thrill Say to each other, we'll never part Live for the moment as if it's the start I can't wait We got a lot of nice things to wear We got the fresh and the foul air We got the come and go, one step ahead We got to pry our eyes from sleep We got a vacancy to meet We got the ebb and flow, one step ahead One step ahead No better end No better end

Warm wind, baking sun drying out your pink eyes Black rain, carpet bombs blanketing your mind Drunk sailors holding back the sails Old bodies beaching just like whales Cold hearts, bravado Chipping at your pride Stereos and mono glows nipping at the lies Drunk sailors holding back the sails Old bodies beaching just like whales Before and after sent you packing Before and after left you cracking Lakefront views and desert raptures Step into the ever-after Beat red suns and burning pastures Step into the morning after Bright lights, blinding some Long nights on the run Short days all the craze Searching for the fun Warm wind, setting sun Warm wind, mother tongue Warm wind, baking sun drying out your pink eyes Black rain, carpet bombs blanketing your mind, honey Drunk sailors holding back the sails Blue bodies beaching just like whales Before and after, tears and laughter Pick your poison, face your capture Lakefront vistas, desert capture Step into the ever-after

On The Fly 03:31
This could work, a single string Is keeping up from everything In my defence, I’m much too proud To get the point, step out of the crowd We could wrap it in a flame, or we could cool it in the rain Life begins before a bow Take it in and let it down It never ceases to amaze Until you’re lost and caught up in the haze We could wrap it in a flame Or we could cool it in the rain Sing to me, sing to me tonight This could hurt, and this could sting It isn’t hard falling in the ring Get up fast, or just play dead Get up now, or wait the months for spring We could wrap it in a flame Or we could cool it in the rain Sing to me, sing to me If you won’t just mouth the words and that’s enough for me Sing to me, sing to me tonight Little bits go missing Even when it’s thrilling Turnin’ up in every step when you’re not seeing right Thoughts are ever driftin’ Catch ‘em if you’re missing Even if your running with eyes closed in the night You don’t have to give up the fight We could wrap it in a flame or we could cool it in the rain Sing to me, sing to me tonight Sing to me, sing to me If you won’t just mouth the words and that’s enough for me Sing to me, set if free tonight

Feel a little loose, feel a little tight Feel a little dark and a little light Little bit confusing Know what you’ve been doing Down here where the wrong is right Got to loosen up, got to get a grip Ain’t missing out on the mess I’m in Talk about it plenty, trade you for a penny Down here where the sun is bright So bright If I wait too long, they’ll lay a slick I better move quick (don’t be a stranger) If I move to fast, you know it won’t last Better play it safe Here for a time, here to follow suit Here to make a living, here to bury you Here to be forgetful, here to make you think Here to buy a weapon, here to make you drink We could be the next We could be the same We could trade hands, be alright again We could be the change, we could be the change So bright They come again They’re what they need If I wait too long, they’ll lay a slick I better move quick (don’t be a stranger) If I move too fast, you know it won’t last Better play it safe (don’t be a stranger) If I wait too long, they’ll lay a slick I better move quick (don’t be a stranger) If I move too fast, you know it won’t last Better play it safe (don’t be a stranger) Don’t be a stranger Don’t be a stranger Don’t be a stranger

Fine Lines 03:39
Fine lines again, what can I say? Either we’re close or we’re far away Fine lines can bend, break or be had Carry that weight through the good and the bad Be your show Be your own Ain’t no shame, losing control Ain’t no game, letting people go Blinking lights, highway patrol Speeding nights crashing into hope Ain’t no game Fine lines decide Under your eyes So hot and cold in the blink of time Fine lines will end, start up again Follow that road till you reach the end Ain’t no shame, losing control Ain’t no game, letting people go Blinking lights, highway patrol Speeding nights crashing into hope Ain’t no shame, when you’re up When I’m down, out of touch Ain’t no place like the start Every breath was strong enough Every move was tough enough Together we can stare into the sun Ain’t no shame, losing control Ain’t no game, letting people go Blinking lights, highway patrol Speeding nights crashing into poles Ain’t no shame, losing control Ain’t no game, letting people Blinking lights, highway patrol Speeding nights Every breath was strong enough Every move was tough enough Together we can stare into the sun!

It’s all so uncertain and why are we here It’s best to be curious and live for the cheer There’s hard truths and cold truths and lukewarm beer So be open minded and dance with the fear There are so many ways that you can achieve it Inspire your mind so you can make peace Know what to wear when it’s pissing on your shoulders And what to take off when you’re sick of it here Fall back on me Sooner than it’s ever been, want to feel the earth spin? Fall back on me Take the time to understand Use the fear to make the man Look up and see Throughout all my years there’s been good ones and bad ones And even the worst there were moments so clear Despite all the hope that you’ll learn from the big ones it might take a while and you might close your ears Perhaps at the end we’ll be sharing a cold one I’ll be on repeat and you’ll nod and smile Or maybe you’ll tell me I’ve already said it Have I made myself perfectly clear?

Time is the next best thing We can be anything Style is the way you swing moving to everything I’ve got electric fire racing through an empire I’ve got a mortal coil running thought a memoir It’s time I shook that thing Why do I feel like an applicant? Why do I feel like a sycophant? Why do I scream like an ambulance that’s taking me home? Why do I feel your judgement? Why do you got to be pungent? Why do you got to see me beg down on my knees? Life is the biggest thing Unless you are the bigger thing

The finest of the country loves Where we all get away And we were lying, and breathing out The brightest of the country lights Our own milky way Floored, feeling this way before It’s like an ocean of minds Pushing us further out beyond the cove The finest of the new age ways Haven’t you been saved? Take a courtesy, take a bow You’ve made it so far Down the hill, down the hill we run Into our mother’s arms Down the hill, down the hill we run Into our mother’s arms We talked about the finest lines Crossed them once or twice But who’s really counting anymore? We’re positively chuffed at our own demise Down the hill, down the hill we run Into our mother’s arms Down the hill, down the hill we run Into our mother’s arms She has the wind in her hair, nothing to wear That will keep her out of sight She has the love in her voice, nothing but choice That keeps her standing there And now, it’s hard to concentrate Days go by, we separate Mother’s all alone, father’s on the throne For now, it’s so hard to concentrate Days go by, we separate Mother comes alone, father’s on the throne The child’s all alone, down the hill it goes Sanctus Dominus Deus Sabaoth Dona Eis Requiem Lexicon and lexis meet For another speech On a frequency Images of you and me Pacifying freeze Caught in the breeze Dona Eis Requiem Where are you? Where are you? The finest on an empty stage Haven’t you been craved But who’s really dancing anymore? We are positively beaten, with nothing left in store Down the hill, down the hill we run Into our mother’s arms Down the hill, down the hill we run Into our mother’s arms Darkest of the longest days Our own work at play Numb, feeling this way before It’s like an ocean of minds Pushing us further out beyond the cove Pushing us out beyond, beyond the cove Pushing us out.

Finally gonna get that dance with Rose and Thom Never gonna miss a step again You don’t gotta break your back for know-it-alls All you gotta do is keep on checking in I know that you will, ‘cause I’m Strong enough, bold enough See you in the sweet sunrise Feel you in the changing tides Bringing that foreign car back to life Working on the wheels that took us out to sea Reading between the lines of heart and soul Probably never knew how much it meant to me So I’m telling you now, ‘cause I’m Strong enough, bold enough See you in the sweet sunrise Feel you in the changing tides Don’t mind me I’m not ready to let you go Stay with me Through a voicemail on the phone But I’m right here Tell me where I oughta go so I’ll know Which star to find to lead me home So many things unsaid when the pressure’s on Now this letter brings me hope and love I’m proud of you for following your dreams I know that you will, ‘cause you’re Strong enough, bold enough See you in the sweet sunrise Feel you in the changing tides Strong enough, bold enough See you in the sweet sunrise To feel you behind my eyes

Slow Decline 03:41
We could, look to the wonder of space Everting leaving a face, smack in the face of this heartless heart What happens, happens to me and to you Blacks out the sky when it’s through Sounds so absurd, but you know it’s true I would never leave you alone I’d leave something on Face to face The dreams that you make I would never greet you alone I’d make you’d a home Price we pay, knowing that we’ll go someday We should, do what we said we would Because wasting time can’t be good It may not be real but it’s laughter The face of disaster is long There aren’t any roads where we’re going There’s only a great big beyond We’re in it together so don’t you go I would never leave you alone I’d leave something on Face to face The dreams that you make I would never greet you alone I’d make you’d a home Price we pay, knowing that we’ll go someday I would never leave you alone I’d leave something on Face to face The dreams that you make I would never greet you alone I’d make you’d a home Price we pay, knowing that we’ll go someday

Sit tight, don’t move, it’s all right I can’t help thinking we all got stage fright Stand tall, work with what you got in your hands Till you’re dead Stay strong, you fought for too long I know you’re waiting till all is gone and forgiven the great escape Sometimes nobody’s home But you know we never forget No, we don’t forget We started out on our own But we’ve got the ghosts on our side They’ve passed on, but I can still feel them I’d like to think that they’re leaving crumbs in the distance Before long, I’m gonna get to join ‘em But not before I raise a toast and salute them, salute them Sometimes nobody’s home But you know we never forget No, we don’t forget We started out on our own But we’ve got the ghosts on our side Leave your light on, leave your light on, leave your light on for me…. (there’s only so many moves you can make)

Most lives are many days Day after day after day after day after day We walk past the sounds Meeting liars, cheats, players, chiefs Brothers, thieves, mothers and maids What if they never knew ya? Well, they couldn’t see through ya What if they’ll only serve ya National nervous breakdowns by the dime? What if you didn’t feel them? Entertain or believe them? Tied up by their own lies Fat (modern thinker) rain drops (ancient healer) Some wrapped on the door others knocked on down to the floor (knock on the door goes on) Escaped (backyard dealer) through the holes (Mona Lisa) The longest way down is the shortest way you get home (knock from another sign) What if they never knew ya? Well, they couldn’t see through ya What if they’ll only serve ya National nervous breakdowns by the dime? What if you didn’t feel them? Entertain or believe them Tied up by their own lies I can’t see the man if I don’t say something I can’t fear the man if I just keep pumping I can’t fear the man if I don’t change something inside What if they never knew ya? Well, they couldn’t see through ya What if they’ll only serve ya National nervous breakdowns by the dime? What if you didn’t feel them?

Old Keys 03:34
Fear, don’t wake the night Fear, don’t scare the light It’s not afraid of you No matter what you do Joy, don’t set the traps Joy, don’t fall through the cracks We are in need of you No matter what we do Tonight, I’m falling from the sky Today, I’m wondering if I’ll die Right now, I’m holding my own air Next time, maybe I’ll want to share With you Pain, don’t pass the blame Pain, please don’t be vane If I’ve been needing you Show me what I’m to do Tonight, I’m falling from the sky Today, I’m wondering if I’ll die Right now, I’m holding my own air Next time, maybe I’ll want to share

A Lost Boy 04:04
In my blood I can find the answer Pass the luck to a lost boy In my grudge I can find the answer Pass the pain to a lost boy Know what you’re doing, when you’re doing it, doing it Know what you want to feel In my thoughts I can hide from strangers Pass the light for a dark noise In my face I can show disaster Cast a gaze beyond the toys Know what you’re doing, when you’re doing it, doing it Know what you want to feel If one child can fix it, we’ll make some more If one man can break it, we’ll fight some more If one love can solve it, we’ll make some more If one word would convince you, we’ll write some more In my blood I can hide the answer Pass the heart to a lost boy

Nocturnal daylight in my eyes Diurnal twilight takes me by the hand No intermission, just interim I’m ready for this I hear the sirens telling me to scram I feel my heart beating my mind again Discontinuation’s a special sin I’m ready for this (I’m ready for this), cause you know Sometimes I’ll push you around, but you know it always leaves Sometimes it’ll make you feel down, but knowing sets your free (Turn up the stereo) (Wake up Ontario) (Enjoy the laser show) Time is the strangest game you’ll never You’ll feel the facts and fiction setting in Tempus fugit, I’ll ring it in I’m ready for this (I’m ready for this) Sometimes I’ll push you around, but you know it always leaves Sometimes it’ll make you feel down, but knowing sets your free, you can see (Turn up the stereo) (Wake up Ontario) (Enjoy the laser show) Back and forth again And so we begin Never ending circles round the sun Such a heavy stone, grinding to the bone But you have to let it in This crooked road will set you straight again All the narrow misses, adrenaline, I’m ready for this Sometimes I’ll push you around, but you know it always leaves Sometimes it’ll make you feel down, but knowing sets your free, you can see (Turn up the stereo) (Wake up Ontario) (Enjoy the laser show)

I find you here, you found me there Wake me up if you want to share Beat my way into your heart I don’t know where it starts and stops The wind will blow, rain will fall We’ll find peace below it all Face the sun, look away Soak it up, find some shade Find a way to start again Lay it down, walk away When it’s nice, fly away High above the ocean ways Head on With a new song Pushing me to trust in something Stay strong, even dark storms Wash away the pain by morning Take back the ringing in my ears All the dissonance and fears Face the silence, loud and clear Before it all just disappears Find a way to start again Lay it down, walk away Breathe it in, blow it out Feel your heart, shout it out When it’s nice, fly away High above the ocean ways Head on With a new song Pushing me to trust in something Stay strong, even dark storms Wash away the pain by morning They wash away the pain by morning Wash away the pain by morning By morning

Keep It 03:25
Sunlight reaching underground Through a hole in the forest floor I’m swimming beneath the ground Of the Mexican farmers I don’t even know your name Or the things you’ve been showing me If I did it’d make no difference, I’d find deliverance in me But I wait by your side Until I know for sure You’re done playing games You’re ready for change Darkness bleeding out the light I can’t see what’s in front of me I’ll just have to trust you’re right And fight the flight But I’ve run out of gas today on this highway But I’ll wait by your side Until I know for sure Done playing games, You’re ready for change I’ll wait by your side until I know for sure You’re done playing games And you’re ready for change Hey there old habit, warmest of jackets Meet me outside for a smoke Hey there old habit, warmest of jackets Meet me outside for a toke

I’ve seen it so many times It’s like I’ve been there So many moments to go We all know, where to find Love It’s where we go to unwind Starts from the highchair So many evenings to go We all know, where to find Love Animals scare Lost in the fall fair All the girls scream Wish I had’ve been there If all this space and this time Is just a flight plan So many feelings to flow We all know, where to find Love Animals scare Lost in the fall fair All the girls scream Wish I had’ve been there The last Beatle I saw him stand there The last needle To play the end

Backtracking 04:21
Just sit by the fire that you’re feeding And stand by the low-lying feeling And know that the heart can’t be beaten If you’re dreamin’ She’s got a motorcycle man Who’s riding her around the land He’s a tool, but it don’t take much To make her want what she doesn’t trust The sounds of rats and lovesick men in time She’s going to fall for the same old line She gets along with the loss Before the past was a teenage trip The future held us in a steady grip Boredom to fuss, no blurry glass Just a devil with an angel’s past The sounds of rats and lovesick men in time She’s going to fall for the same old line She gets along with the loss Backtracking those thoughts from you And I can’t be late Backtracking those thoughts from you And I know that it’s only fate Just sit by the fire that you’re feeding Stand by the low-lying feeling He’s got a better answer now For went it all went wrong in town Begs for a chance to spill the beans Hopes that the washing has all come clean The sounds of rats and lovesick men in time She’s going to fall for the same old line She gets along with the loss With the loss With the loss The loss

about

This double record is the product of what happens when you lock a sensitive songwriter and Canada's top indie rock producer and rock guitarist in a room together for a year and a half. The record is varied yet cohesive, serving up a blend of 60s pop chord sensibilities with Black Sabbath and mid-period Genesis inspired rock and synth riffs. The melodies and emotive and reflective lyrics are juxtaposed against aggressive drum and bass rhythms and spacey synth and guitar sounds.
